For more than a decade Landserv has assisted the City of Greater Geelong in meeting its reporting and risk assessment requirements for Drysdale Landfill.
A duty to reduce risk to human health and the environment from pollution and waste forms the cornerstone of Victoria’s Environment Protection Act and this is reflected in the stringent licence conditions applying to Drysdale Landfill.
Landserv was first engaged in 2010 by the City of Greater Geelong to assist with environmental reporting for the Drysdale Landfill. To prepare the first Landfill Operations Risk Assessment (LORA) we facilitated a workshop with managers and operators to develop a register of risks and controls. The LORA has now supported the City of Greater Geelong’s exemplary operation of Drysdale Landfill for more than 15 years.
Landserv has delivered several revisions and updates to the LORA. As well as also providing groundwater, leachate and landfill gas monitoring and reporting, landfill gas risk assessments and management plans, emissions estimates and reporting under the Commonwealth Greenhouse and Energy Reporting framework, hydrogeological assessments, supervision of groundwater and landfill gas monitoring bore installations and the design and approval of a pipeline for leachate transport to treatment plant network under Trade Waste Agreement. Our reports and risk assessments were delivered within the EPA licence framework for the Drysdale Landfill and served to inform regular independent EPA audits of the facility.
