Victorian Government ‘Big Build’ infrastructure project, detailed review and endorsement of all Environmental Management Plan documentation and regular independent audits of Djilang Alliance’s environmental compliance throughout the construction project.
The Waurn Ponds Rail Duplication project duplicated 8 km of track, increasing capacity on the line to allow for future additional train services. The project included removal of two dangerous and congested level crossings and delivered better stations for passengers on Victoria’s busiest regional rail line.
Landserv’s audit team was lead by certified Principal Environmental Auditor (EMS) Damien Chappell. The initial role of the Independent Environmental Auditor (IEA) was to review environmental documentation to verify compliance.
The Landserv team then carried out 6-monthly environmental audits of the project construction activities to assess their compliance against the Environmental Management Framework and approval conditions for environment projection.
Landserv’s approach to the Environmental Audits was based on ISO19011:2018 and applied the Auditing Principles of integrity, fair presentation, due professional care, confidentiality, independence and avoidance of conflict of interest, evidence-based auditing and a risk-based approach to reporting on compliance.
