Landserv recently had the opportunity to work with a major rail project in August 2012. This project involved the assessment of contaminated land, surface water and groundwater at civil construction sites along a proposed railway line in metro Melbourne.

Physical soil samples were collected along the proposed railway line, then analysed by a NATA accredited laboratory. Together with a thorough revision of existing land and groundwater data, Landserv was able to identify existing contaminants present at the site.

The report identified areas of contamination, classification of contaminants, and their potential impacts. Recommendations were also provided for management strategies and mitigation measures specific for the site, including storage, reuse, treatment, and disposal options and licensed transporters and receivers local to the worksite. These recommendations were developed in line with EPA and legislative requirements.
