After successfully locating 3 Underground Storage Tanks (USTs) at a local council’s site in western Melbourne , Landserv was engaged to carry out a full scale excavation of these tanks and associated infrastructure. This was carried out in accordance with current guidance from the Victorian Environment Protection Authority (EPA) relating to underground petroleum storage systems (UPSS). The site was then backfilled using clean fill from a nearby quarry, and the excavated materials disposed off in accordance with the Industrial Waste Resource Guidelines (IWRG) Publication 621. The project also involved the installation of 3 groundwater wells at the site and initial sampling to monitor groundwater quality.
